Steelix, the Iron Snake pokemon. Originating in Pokemon Gold and Silver versions, it evolves from Onix when traded while holding a Metal Coat item, or after spending 100 years under extreme pressures.

A powerful, arrogant, and prideful pokemon, wild Steelix are extremely territorial. They often take on intruders no matter what the size, type, or species, and prefer to fight one on one. When Ash and co were aiding a torkoal through a desert populated by steel types, a Steelix challenged them, refusing aid from other steel types nearby.

Both in the game and the anime, Steelix is a powerhouse of a tank, shrugging off powerful blows with ease. Brock's Steelix, newly evolved and weak to fire, tanked several blasts from a Charizards flamethrower, which is over 2000 degress farhenheit.

That's nothing compared to a Steelix's true durability. Pokedex entries state that these pokemon often live 6 miles below the surface, almost near the mantle. Temperatures here range from 1500-7000 degress farhenheit! And the pressures at this depth are astounding. Remeber that, the amount of pressure you experience increases by 7,300psi per mile. Starting at the surface and going down to just before the mantle, the pressure would be 43,800psi. And deeper into the mantle, you get pressures of over 800,000psi. Shit, thats a good sized country getting dropped on your head. And Steelix live and are born under this pressure.

This giant rock snake's defenses don't stop there. It's skin is apparently harder, stronger, and tougher than both diamond and every metal known to man."

Steelix has 2 abilities at its disposal, but it can only have one. The first, Rock Head, boosts the power of moves that cause recoil damage, and gets rid of the recoil damage itself.

The other is Study. In the game, as long as the pokemon with sturdy has full HP, it cannot be knocked out with one hit. In the anime, this makes it impossible to knock out the foe with one move, regardless how much health it has.

Kra: "Steelix's stats make its feats make much more sense. Its health and attack are both average, but then you get to its defense. It's damn near godlike.

This one stat alone is what has made Steelix such a powerhouse all these years, unfortunately, the rest of his stats are subpar. His special attack is terrible, and his special defense isn't much better.

And forget about this guy moving fast above ground. Base 30 speed is as slow as Slobrow, and while Steelix is fast underground, above ground its just one giant target.

Steelix has a ton of types it can shrug off like its nothing. Rocks bounce off its hide, steel can't dent its skin, faires can't touch him, psychic attacks have little to no effect, bugs can't bit him, and even dragons can't burn him.

Not to mention he is straight up immune to electricity and poison based attacks.

All these resistences make Steelix even harder to kill in battle. They were even used in ancient warfare to attack castles and strongholds.

The Iron Snake has a pretty wide movepool, with a pretty decent range of types. We're not gonna cover all of them, but we'll do the important ones. Fire Fang, Ice Fang, and Thunder Fang are elemental biting moves that can burn, freeze, or paralyze their target. Considering this snake can bite through complex mechs with ease, these have gotta hurt.

Next is Gyro Ball, a tricky move that makes Steelix's low speed a benefit. It does more damage the faster your foe is than you. This means if your really really fucking fast and Steelix uses this move on you, your boned.

The closest thing to a signature move this guy has is Iron Tail. It's a little inaccurate, but has a ton of power and adaptability. Steelix can use it to block attacks, cause rocks to fly into the air, stab with it like a sword, create fissures through the ground, use it as a bludgening weapon, use its light to blind enemies.

Dragonbreath fires a stream of concentrated gas/fire at the foe, and can paralyze them when it hits. Or is gameplay has any say in this, EVERY TIME IT HITS!

Dig is a two turn attack. On the first, Steelix burrows under the ground. A few minutes later, he will explode the the earth, usually directly underneath his target.

Screech is a powerful yell that lowers the foes defense. If there close enough, it can even knock them back from the sheer force of the yell, to the point that it KO's Ash's pikachu.

And finally we have sandstorm. Steelix can summon a powerful sandstorm for up to 15 minutes, and use it for a ton of shit. It can block attacks, hide him, increase his speed, use it to buffer opponents, or even launch it like a beam attack.

It even causes residual damage to anything not a ground, rock, or steel type. The only downside is that powerful wind can break apart Sandstorm, and the tornado itself is somewhat flammable and can be turned against its user.

Weight: 1631.4 pounds

Stats:
HP: 75 (Average)

Defense: 230 (HOLY SHIT IT WILL NOT DIE!)
Special Attack: 55 (Poor)
Special Defense: 95 (Slightly above average)
Speed: 30 (Still awful)

Preview by Terraraptor
Mega-Steelix really does have an insane defense stat. Even super effective moves from powerful attackers fail to take off much of this walls health. And his special defense got a decent boost too, letting him tank those ranged moves much better

Mega-Steelix gains a new ability too, in the form of Sand Force. Under the effects of a sandstorm, all of his rock, steel, and ground type moves get boosted by 30%, making his normally adequate attack top notch.

He still is just as slow though, and arguably even less manuverable, considering he doubled his weight through Mega evolution.

Steelix Overheat by Terraraptor
Weaknesses:
-Poor special defense
-Weak to Fire, Water, Ground, and Fighting moves.
-Very slow (Can be a blessing in disguise)
-Large and not agile
-Most moves require physical contact
